Yuan is a postdoctoral associate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His current research focuses on cognition, learning and mental illnesses. He combines research and computational modeling to understand mechanisms underlying physiological processes during decision making as well as pathological alternations in the brain, to provide insights into both early diagnosis and treatments for mental disorders. Working for 8 years in academia, Yuan has long been passionate about helping to develop leading-edge scientific findings and technologies to benefit other people.
Before joining MIT, Yuan earned his PhD in Physiology and Biophysics from Case Western Reserve University in 2020 and his Medicine degree from Capital Medical University in China in 2014. Experiences in both biomedical research and practicing medicine helped him gain valuable analytical and practical skills. Outside science and medicine, Yuan loves playing basketball and cooking.
