Saul A. Fox, served as Chief Executive of Fox Paine & Company since he founded Fox Paine in 1996. Over the course of his 27 year career in Private Equity, Mr. Fox orchestrated numerous corporate acquisitions in such areas as Consumer Products, Energy, Independent Power Generation, Information Technology, Lodging, Medical Instruments, Reinsurance, and Specialty Property and Casualty Insurance. Prior to founding Fox Paine, Mr. Fox was a general partner of Kohlberg, Kravis & Roberts & Co. (KKR), which he joined in 1984. At KKR, a global Private Equity and alternative asset manager, Mr. Fox was instrumental in several of that firm’s highly successful acquisitions and other transactions. Mr. Fox has been particularly active in the Information Technology and Energy sectors since his involvement in KKR’s 1985 acquisition of Union Texas Petroleum, which at the time was one of the largest U.S. independent Oil & Natural Gas Exploration & Production companies and Fox Paine’s 2002 acquisition of Paradigm, Ltd., the worldwide leader in Advanced Analytics & Data Management Geophysical Software for the Oil & Natural Gas Exploration & Production industry.
Mr. Fox served as chairman or a lead director of the board of directors of numerous publicly traded and privately held companies, including American Cystoscope Manufacturers, Inc., American Reinsurance, Inc., Canadian General, Ltd., Global Indemnity Plc, L’Artisan Parfumeur, Ltd. (parent company), Motel 6, L.P., Paradigm, Ltd., Penhaligon’s, Ltd. (parent company), Ref-Fuel, Inc., Union Texas Petroleum, Inc., United American Energy, Inc., and Victoria Reinsurance, Ltd.. Mr. Fox was raised outside of Philadelphia and received a B.S. from Temple University in 1975 (summa cum laude and President’s Scholar) and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1978 (cum laude). Mr. Fox also serves on the boards of several non-profit organizations, including the Board of Overseers of the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Mr. Fox, a father of three children, currently resides outside of San Francisco.
