Daniel is a Colombian-American physician with five years of clinical and research experience. He obtained his medical degree from one of the top medical institutions in Latin America. After graduation, he joined Harvard Medical School as a clinical researcher, where he participated in more than 40 research projects and grant applications. He secured $170,000 in funding for diverse projects, published more than 10 papers in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, and submitted a surgical-device patent application. Furthermore, he helped restructure the research program at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Division of Thoracic Surgery and Interventional Pulmonology to increase productivity and shorten the training period of postdoctoral research fellows. Daniel also served as the community service vice president of the Harvard Colombian Student Society (HCSS), where he developed a database to promote inter-institutional research collaboration and retooled a mentorship program for Colombians applying to graduate school.
Currently, Daniel is pursuing an MPH/MBA degree at Johns Hopkins University during which he plans to explore the fields of healthcare consulting, venture capital, and operations management. In addition, Daniel was elected as the president of the Latino Public Health Network (LPHN) at the Bloomberg School of Public Health where he plans to establish a comprehensive government program involving networking opportunities, cultural events, and community service. In his free time, Daniel enjoys cooking, reading, and exercising.
