Joanna co-founded Stryve, a mobile recruiting platform backed by YCombinator. Prior to that, she led New Verticals (Grocery/Retail) at DoorDash and led Driver Pricing at Uber. On weekends you'll find her rock climbing, surfing or tossing a frisbee or angel investing in up-and-coming startups led by amazing women in the Bay Area. Joanna was raised in Vancouver as a first-generation Canadian-Chinese. Growing up with an immigrant mother who left everything behind to pursue a better life, Joanna developed a deep appreciation for being born in the land of opportunity. She grew up dreaming big. In middle school, she was told she couldn’t join the frisbee team because she couldn’t huck; two years later, she was team captain. At Uber, Joanna started in a junior operations role, rising before 5:00AM daily to send out driver promotions. As the organization and her role evolved, she led so many divergent tasks that she became the resident expert of Uber’s holistic incentive architecture, eventually rising to PM of Global Driver Incentives. For Joanna, the sky was the limit.
